Lady
Photograph by Arthur Bonnie
I create art using photography of my own body, a signature element in all my artwork. This piece was inspired by the legend of Lady Godiva and her courage in standing up for others. According to the legend, Lady Godiva repeatedly urged her husband, Leofric, Earl of Mercia, to ease the heavy taxes placed on the people of Coventry, England. He finally agreed on the condition that she would ride naked through the town on a horse. Lady Godiva accepted the challenge, and she became a lasting symbol of courage.
