Busy Bee
Photograph by Chuck Sabo
Though I grew up in New England, I never spent any time in and around northern Vermont until the summer of my 65th year when my wife and I spent a week in Stowe. Of course, one of the challenges with any vacation is deciding what sites to visit, and there are certainly no shortage of options in that beautiful part of the country. It turned out that one of our best decisions of the week was to visit the Shelburne Museum just south of Burlington, VT. For those not familiar with it, this fascinating museum is home to over 100,000 American folk & decorative art items, housed in 39 distinct structures spread out over 45 acres. In addition, there are many small but beautiful gardens throughout the property. In short, it was an amateur photographer's paradise. So much so that I took 20% of my photos for the trip during the 6 hours we spent at the museum. And of those, my personal favorite was captured as we strolled through one of the museums many gardens. It's a photo I've entitled "Busy Bee". A photo that reminds me that things don't have to be perfect (like having all the petals in place) to make for a interesting photo. After all, if this bumble bee did not care, why should I?
